Corruptids are a species of clones created from a person's imagination and Shadow Bugs. After the Shadow Bugs corrupt a memory, the person of which the memory originated from can pass out from the pain. Various Corruptids appear throughout the Rose Warriors series.

History

Rose Warriors

The first Corruptid to be fought is the Toon Link Corruptid in New Earth. When Tetra was captured by the Subspace Army, Shadow Bugs enter her mind and create a replica of her memory of Link. After it is defeated by Ruby Rose, Mario and Toro Inoue, it dissolves into a pile of Shadow Bugs and melts into the ground.

the Luigi Corruptid

Another Corruptid of Luigi appears in the Mushroom Kingdom and is fought by Ruby and Duncan. The memory of Luigi comes from Mario, which knocks him out during their fight. When it is defeated, Gwen appears out of the Shadow Bugs.

The Corruptids are explained in detail by Dr. Maxis after the Rose Warriors are founded. He reveals that they manipulate memories using dark matter and a high frequency, which gives the target an instant migraine, before knocking them into a coma.

Corruptids appear as common enemies in Spear Pillar, and will appear as a random playable character. They are created from Palkia and Dialga's memories of the heroes while they were in suspended animation, and serve as their living reconnaissance drones. Three Corruptids are fought before the battle between the awakened Dialga and Palkia, and take the form of the three characters in your party.

Various Corruptids appear in hidden areas in the world. They often guard chests, and will rise up out of the ground when the player gets too close. They must be defeated in order to open the chest.

Rose Warriors: Memorial

Corruptids make a reappearance in Rose Warriors: Memorial. All of the original Corruptids return, while new ones are added in the Crow's Legacy chapter.

a Stable Corruptid

The first new Corruptid to appear is of Ruby Rose, who serves as a tutorial fight for players to learn Lie Ren's playstyle, as his playstyle is drastically different from most other characters'. Notably, Corruptids under the control of Giratina take on a much different appearance than those in the original title, and the Rose Warriors give them the distinctive name of "Stable Corruptid", as they appear to be stronger and less psychotic in nature.

Most of the Stable Corruptids are unique in that the forms they take, and hence their attacks, are chosen at random; unlike the original Corruptids. The sole exception is that a Corruptid of Ruby serves the role of mini-boss to teach players how to get used to Lie Ren's playstyle.

Zero has the power to create clones of himself, and these clones take the form of Stable Corruptids. However they are somewhat weaker than the normal Zero, and are used as distractions. Additionally, a more powerful Corruptid clone of Lie Ren appears as a recurring mini-boss and goes by the name of LR Corrupt.
