Chiyo Chan Vs. Tails is a platform game featuring Chiyo Chan from Azumanga Daioh and Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog developed by Azumanga Interactive, published by Bandai Namco Games, and co-published by Sega for the Bandai Revolution and Bandai CD.

The game is a hack of the Super Nintendo game Tom & Jerry. Except the game adds a player select, the game doesn't have that many enemies or obstacles that hurt you and the boss battles have major changes. The BGM in the game has also major changes (except the ending credits theme), replacing the Tom & Jerry themes with music score from Azumanga Daioh.

And some harmful obstacles have been changed meaning they will no longer hurt you (like the bouncing orange balls).

Gameplay[]

The player controls Chiyo Chan, Miruchi or Yuka (for an optional choice on 1 or 2 player mode) as they explore four different worlds (the cinemas, high school, a toy shop and Tails' house). Game controls are simple: A/C Button makes Chiyo Chan/Miruchi/Yuka jump (tapping it again lightly upon landing will activate their Super Jumps), while B/X/Y/Z Buttons will make them throw marbles upward (B/X Button) and downward (Y/Z Buttons) in the enemies.

To earn extra lives throughout the game, players have to either find a 1-Up icon, or collect 100 small pieces of cotton candy scattered throughout the levels. Also, Chiyo Chan, Miruchi and Yuka's health meters are displayed in the form of four hearts, that can be replenished through collectible larger cotton candies. At the end of each world, Chiyo Chan, Miruchi and Yuka will take a confrontation with Tails.

Note[]

  • The game was discontinued once Tailmon and Micky was released. Probably due to Bandai Revolution games being way too similar.
